TraffiControl is an optional feature for 860 family products that facilitates troubleshooting of upstream ingress and noise problems within active channel bands. TraffiControl allows observation of ingress that is present “underneath” an upstream cable modem channel or any bursty signal without the need to suspend the current channel. This feature allows you to analyze active channels for ingress and noise while eliminating any programming interruptions.
The 860 TraffiControl option (TC-1) uses DSP (digital signal processing) to sort spectrum “snapshots” at a very high rate of speed. This enables a display showing the traffic signal, as well as the peak and current “noise” within the active channel band. The fast capture of the spectrum signal allows you to see bursty signals consisting of ingress and fast-impulse transient noise less than 10 microseconds in duration.
